  • Goodbye, Xanga

As you may have noticed, all the picture links on my xanga are now defunct. I have let my domain expire, as I really don't use xanga enough anymore to justify paying for a dedicated domain.

It's time to say goodbye to xanga, as we move on to bigger and better things. With the collaboration of some close friends, I've begun on the launch of VitA Charity's 4th fundraising event - "PULSE", to be held at Cafe Asia on August 9th, in Rosslyn, VA. I'm the webmaster in charge of designing and managing the website, so do drop by and check out http://www.vitacharity.org for a sneak peak!

With less and less time to blog, I've become more of just a photo poster. If you'd like to continue viewing photos, be sure to drop by my Picasa gallery or Flickr page. It was good run. Thanks, everyone (if there's anyone left even reading).

  • Tax Rebates

Guess where my tax rebate (aka economic stimulus aka free money) went:

The million dollar question - do I really *deserve* a 40D? I dunno. I'd like to think I've moved on from entry level over the last 3 years. I want something a little more substantial than the minute Rebel, but as they say, it's the photographer, not the camera. So, here's to hoping I can continue to improve and push my limits with this new body. Let's just hope Canon doesn't release a 50D that will blow the Nikon D300 out of the water. Otherwise I'll have to play the upgrade game.

(In my defense, I got in on sale, $300 off MSRP. Plus I can sell my old Rebel XT and make some back.)

    For Sale:

    • Canon Digital Rebel XT *BODY ONLY* (black)
    • extra battery
    • IR wireless remote trigger (trigger shutter wirelessly)
    • original box with all manuals and accessories like strap, battery charger, cables, etc.
    • 512MB Kingston Elite CF memory card
    • hard plexiglass LCD protector screen already installed from daProducts (not a flimsy sticker)

    Anyone interested?

  • Sakura Matsuri

Annual Sakura Matsuri festival. It was little more low key than I expected, but still tons of good food and some neat and interesting things to see. The drum performance was sweet, too bad I'm too short and there's all these people's heads in my pictures. >:O

  • More pretty lights

I got this alarm clock when my 10 year old one died sometime last year. Pretty cool huh? If only it played MP3 CD's it would be the best alarm clock EVER.

  • Sunny California

This is pretty much a 90% done deal, but just to let everyone know - I'm moving to California.

I took up a new project with my principal in LA. When your principal offers you a position to help start up a new project, you don't decline! After I finish my master's in May, I'll probably have a few weeks to chill before I head out in June. The office location is near LAX, so it's likely I'll be living on a beach somewhere. Long Beach? Huntington Beach?

Honestly, this move was a long time coming. NoVA has become too stuffy - everybody has dated everyone's friends plus 3 degrees, and it's nearly impossible to meet anybody "new" (guy or girl) whom isn't somehow already part of your ever growing bubble. I've depicted this "growing bubble" phenomenon below:

This process can be applied for any new friends you might make. For example, if you make a new guy friend, he might turn out to be your other girl friend's ex, or he might be your guy friend's ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend. Anyway, it's basically a clusterfuck.

The move should be a fresh start on both a social and personal level. I think what my mom said one day really woke me up. She said, and I quote: "you should just live at home till you get married!" While it seems sweet and all, the idea was actually somewhat repulsive. If I really were to do that, then I would NEVER get married.

I'm excited already. And a new chapter of my life will soon begin.

  • Cesar!

Michelle and Howard's adorable little chocolate labrador, Cesar. If these pics don't bounce my readership up, I'm giving up on xanga... maybe. ;p

  • Lunar Eclipse?

I'm no astrophotographer, and I certainly don't have the right equipment, but I tried to take a picture of the lunar eclipse last night. Doesn't look much like one, though. I probably overexposed it. Oh well, it looks cool though...?

I re-themed my xanga slightly using the new xanga themes thing. It kinda sucks, though. I mean seriously, what's with the obnoxious ads on the sidebar? I much preferred the old style ads at the top of the page. Ah whatever. Freeloaders can't be complainers.

I just occurred to me that I re-themed a xanga that no one reads... hrm.
